Introduction Built in the 1930's, Sandy Cove Hotel is second generation family owned and run. The Hotel has stunning views across the bay to the twin Exmoor peaks of Great and Little Hangman. Renown for the warmth of its welcome and attention to detail Sandy Cove is a charming, friendly and individual Hotel and is committed to providing accessibility for all visitors. The Hotel is enviably nestled at the gateway to magical Exmoor and within easy reach of the Atlantic coastline such as Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

• We have three private car parks which are all tarmaced with designated disabled spaces close to the Hotel
• Passengers can disembark or unload luggage at the front of the Hotel before parking
• All car parking areas are lit up at night
• The Hotel doors are usually locked from midnight but this can be later if pre-arranged with Reception
• There are no steps into the Hotel with easy accessibility up a ramp
• Dogs are allowed on our Hotel grounds, but please use a litter bag and dispose of any litter in the bins provided around the Hotel

Main Entrance & Reception

• The main entrance has double doors, one of which is usually open giving access of 90cm up to 180cm when both doors are open
• Two doors leading to the lounge, dining room and bar are of level access - both doors with a width of 76cm
• The Reception desk is 105cm high with seating available
• Registration can be completed while sitting in the Reception area
• On entering the main reception door there is a slight incline with a tiled surface
• The Reception area is well lit

Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc

• There are 29 bedrooms in the main Hotel and a further 10 in the Lodge, which is situated approx. 200 metres from the Hotel in its own grounds and with its own car parking area
• The main Hotel has 5 ground floor bedrooms which are easily accessible for wheelchairs - one of these rooms has a walk-in shower with hand rails and is fitted with a wash basin with accessibility for wheelchair use
• The remaining bedrooms in the Hotel are on the first floor and are accessed by stairs
• The Lodge has 7 ground floor bedrooms and 3 bedrooms on the first floor which are accessed by stairs
• To access the Lodge there are three steps up to the front door
• All corridors are well lit

Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc

• Our lounge is accessed from the main reception area or from the hallway with level access and has several comfortable leather sofas
• Our restaurant leads on from the lounge and has level access with both carpets and wooden flooring tables are movable, easily accessed and allocated to suit guest's requirements. All chairs are leather except in our Bistro area where they are leather and wood. There is excellent natural light by day and in the evening lighting with dimmers to make a special ambiance. Menus are typed clearly and staff would be happy to read explain the Menus to you, vegetarian choices are available. With prior notice we can cater for any allergies or special diets.
• Our bar has two entrances from the dining room, both have level access. There are comfortable leather sofas and ambiant lighting. There is a flat screen TV and a large projector screen in the bar area. Flooring is wooden.

Public WCs

• Disabled toilets with baby changing facilities are located at the end of our dining room
• The Ladies and Gentlemens toilets are also situated here
• All toilets have level access

Laundry

• We have a laundry service available to all guests information about this can be found in the room information booklet

Leisure Facilities

• We have a large heated swimming pool, which has retractable sides that can be opened in the summer.
• We also have a sauna, steamroom and fitness equipment, male and female changing rooms, toilet and shower.
• Our swimming pool is located in the hotel ground approx. 20 metres from the main entrance. Accessed by steps or there is a tarmaced drive which can be used for disabled access.

Entertainment

• Saturday evenings we are well known for our Smorgasbord and Carvery which is followed by our in-house disco from 9.30pm until late.

Grounds and Gardens

• The Hotel has some 30 acres of land - much of this is woods and cliff with stunning views. We have a large lawned area with picnic tables and chairs. We also have a very large stunning decked area with tables and chairs which is lit at night to give a wonderful ambiant atmostphere.
• Sun loungers and chairs are available in the grounds around the swimming pool area which is particularly appealing when the retractable sides of the pool are open in summer.

• Mobile phone reception is usually alright but there is a public telephone just off reception and phones in all rooms
• The fire alarms are tested every Wednesday morning
• Please inform us at the time of booking or on arrival if you require assistance from your room in case of an emergency

Future Plans

We hope to refurbish the Reception area. We are hoping to build 9 new bedrooms on the flat roof of the Hotel.
